If you are a graduate student of an Australian tertiary education institute, and you have close family members living in a city area of Australia, you may be able to qualify for this visa. This is a permanent migration visa, to allow you to remain permanently in Australia. This visa is points tested, and you will gain extra points for your family sponsorship. These extra points are awarded by the immigration authorities because migrants with sponsors settle more easily into Australian life and quickly become self-supporting.

To sponsor a migrant family member to Australia, you must be either a permanent resident or a citizen. If you are a permanent resident, then you must have been in Australia for a reasonable period (about two years), and be financially independent before you can sponsor someone else.

For this visa, applications to the Australian Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs (DIMA) cost AUD$1,990. The fee covers departmental processing.
